Q:  Does the Coast Guard Auxiliary have an Ensign that can be used in lieu of the American Flag?

A:  U.S.C. 891 authorizes U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary flags.

When not assigned to duty, all Auxiliary facilities must fly the National Ensign whenever the Auxiliary Ensign is flown.

When assigned to duty, a USCG Auxiliary facility becomes a government vessel.

All Auxiliary surface facilities assigned to duty and underway must fly the Auxiliary Patrol Ensign and the National Ensign. All other flags, yacht Ensigns, U.S. Power Squadron Ensigns, yacht club burgees, squadron pennants, windsocks, or like items must be removed.
