I’m a Retired Member and need to replace some uniform items. How do I do that?
The Auxiliary Manual authorizes retired Auxiliarists to wear the Auxiliary uniform at appropriate functions[AUXMAN, 3.D.4.c], and for formal and ceremonial occasions [10.A.8].
The Coast Guard Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6 (series), authorize retired Coast Guard personnel to wear the dress uniform…to certain formal and ceremonial events. The same holds true for Auxiliarists in retired status…” [Ibid]
Retired members desiring replacement uniform items can procure items via the regular USCG and Auxiliary sources and/or via certain commercial vendors.
We recommend that retired members contact their Flotilla Commander for guidance.
Uniform items in common with the Coast Guard Active Duty and Reserve are available from the US Coast Guard’s Uniform Distribution Center (UDC), www.uscg.mil/hr/udc/. Since retired members do not have the Member ID numbers required to purchase at the UDC, they will need an assist from an active member to do so. If a visit to the UDC is desired, the retired member would need to be accompanied by an active Auxiliarist to access the facility.
Auxiliary-specific items (such as insignia, ribbons, etc.) are available from the Auxiliary Center (AUXCEN). Active members access it via www.ShopAuxiliary.com. To view the ShopAuxiliary site, retired members will need to enlist the assistance of an active member.
However, as with any active member, retired members can use any of the following methods to order from the AUXCEN’s on-line store:
- They can mail the AUXCEN Order Form with their payment (check or credit card info), as indicated on the form, or;
- They can fax the AUXCEN Order Form (using credit card info), or;
- They can place orders via their district's DSO-MA.
The AUXCEN Order Form is available at http://cgauxa.org/media/AUXCEN_OrderForm-07-08.pdf.
