When is it Appropriate to Wear the Past Officer Device?

Q:  Is the past officer device appropriate to wear to reflect a previously held office, even though I now hold a  different office?

A:  The AUXMAN, Chapter 10, Section F.9.c., page 10-42 states: "When insignia no longer indicates current elected or appointed status in the office represented by the insignia, Auxiliarists must wear the past officer device.  This device does not come with a red or blue “A” to distinguish past elected officers from appointed officers.  The appropriate office insignia remains the distinguishing mark."

So, if you wear the insignia of a previously held elected or appointed office that was higher than your current office, then you must wear the past officer device.  If you wear the insignia of your current office, then you do not wear the past office device.
